My Trip to Berlin
Before coming to Berlin I did a bit of research on Germany and read other peoples experience's in Germany to try and get an idea of what living in Germany for two weeks might be like. However, after just a few days of living in Germany I realized that the German experience is not something you can easily put into words. I was very surprised on how much and how easily public transportation is used. On public trains and buses you see little kids riding on their own which was a big shock to me. Another thing that surprised me is that there seems to be more bicycles than cars anywhere in Berlin. In America bicycles are used as a way to pass time or as exercise in Germany however, its part of their daily lives its a mode of transportation. One thing that I noticed is that they do not have any water fountains that is strange to me considering how much germans walk and ride bicycles throughout the day. Drinks in Berlin are EXPENSIVE!! I think that is probably due to the lack of air conditiong and the lack of water fountains. The Germans know that they can sell their drinks for almost four or five euros and people will buy them because there is no other way to get a drink.(Unless you get tap water but nobody likes that.)
Döner is probably my favorite meal here in Germany and although it is Turkish it seems to have merged into the German culture and is eaten on a daily basis.
