#JUSTLITTLETHINGS in Germany are different than in America. For instance, the bathtub is higher than I am used to, and I nearly fell the first time I tried to get out of the shower.
Getting to Germany was no problem. We had a 55 minute layover in Chicago, no problem, just more time to eat lunch. The ensuing 9 hour flight was typical: gross food, cold, and naturally I couldn't sleep at all. We got into Dusseldorf and I was so excited to be in a foreign country. The differences were immediate, it was silent like a funeral. Actually, more quiet, because at a funeral you can hear people crying and here everyone was just keeping their feelings bundled up as tight as possible. We had to go out of security and get our bags, and in doing so we missed our connecting flight to Berlin.
I'm a very easily frusterated person. Right now, this keyboard is different than I'm used to: sticky, and the keys are hard to push. Waiting on the floor in an airport for ten hours was a blast. What should have been a 45 minute flight was a 6 hour wait and a 4 hour train ride. At least the countryside was beautiful. More later. Mary
