Here in Berlin there is a vast amount of people with different background and different cultures, on the other hand there is that small amount of people that are not: light skin, light hair, or have colored eyes. There is that small amount of people that have: pigmented skin, dark hair, and have dark eyes. Those people can be spotted throughout the city of Berlin easily because they don't fit in. People of colored skin are treated similar to regular resident of Berlin, so I have seen. They speak and act the same as the Germans here to. On the first day of school, a couple of Americans were asked to talk oto some German children in the 5th grade. I witnessed one single dark skinned boy in the classroom, which was very surprising to me.
People have traveled from different parts of Europe to escape the madness in there countries. Like the Syrian refugees they were welcomed here in Germany. There are still signs on the floor that say "Welcome refugees" which shows that the Germans are not so discriminating like other countries, and they are willing to fight against ISIS. On the other hand, many countries are to scared to welcome refugees in because they don't want to get involved.
Most Germans are not to friendly, they are very serious and stif when they don't know someone. Unlike in America even if you don't know the person and they look at you, you smile and say "Hello". But not here, you may look but won't get a greeting or smile back.
Also, when you are a new person in America one introduces the new person to EVERYONE, but not here they may notice you but won,t greet you. Or the person you are friends with won,t introduce you or tell you their friends names .
The Germans love their beer, bread, and cigarettes. Everyday for breakfast we have bread, butter and cheese, and juice or coffee. They take their breakfast very serious, EVERYDAY you have to have breakfast because they get hungry with all of the walking they do. Smoking is a daily thing there are people smoking at all times and everywhere. Kids don't care about the age regulations about smoking. I have seen reallz young kids out smoking in public and they look no older than 14 years of age. Beer is very common as well, I mean Germany is known for their beer, people here drink a lot. Even in public places, like parks, fairs, and out on the streets. I was astonished when I saw a 60+ woman drinking beer.
Over all, I have been enjoying myself in this new atmosphere which is always a good to experience!!!
